We hope you all had a wonderful evening at last Saturday’s ball, the dance floor was packed as all our beautiful looking guests twirled the night away. The photos will soon be available to view and purchase at www.partridgephotography.co.uk- Kerry and Lesley Partridge will be making a donation to us so the more pictures you buy, the more money we make for the school! Thanks to Sarah Barker for helping securing sponsorship and prizes for the event and to Adam Bain who did a fantastic job as compere for the evening. Also to Judith and Mark White for the loan of the butterflies and flower garlands, if you’ve discovered that any butterflies returned home with you by mistake please drop off at the office for safe return. Finally thanks to all of you who came along and support the event, we’re on target for having raised around £1,700 so far.
BOOK DAY EVENT
We saw some happy faces enjoying and enthused by our Book Day events, we’ve had some lovely feedback from parents too. Well done to everyone who entered the book cover competition, there were some amazing designs out there. Rob Macdonald has kindly taken the winning entries and enlarged them, they are now on display in the library. Thanks to WHSmith who made a generous donation of prizes. It was great to see so many pupils make an effort to dress up as their favourite book characters – well done costume design departments! A massive thank you Sophy Henn and her team of PTA helpers who organised the event: Jeanette Anning, Mitzi Deluca, Sarah Underhill, Jenny Smith, Caroline Newnham and Amanda Harries. Thanks to Alison Carter who ran a writing workshop afternoon and Jo Horsley of The Little Drama Workshop who gave a day and half of story telling and drama workshops, based on The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl. Both these kind ladies gave their time for free. Thanks to Deidre Huston, a local author who ran a writing workshop and our visiting author and illustrator team, Knife and Packer. They took two assemblies, gave tuition on drawing their characters, judged the book cover competition and gave some advice on writing novels. They went down a storm, and as a result many of the children would like to purchase one of their books. To make these books special Knife and Packer have agreed to sign personalised labels for books purchased. Order forms will be placed in book bags in the next week, we will arrange for each book purchased through us to have a signed label.
All our visitors commented on the enthusiasm and good behaviour of our children. Well done kids you are a credit to the school, long may your interest in books continue!
